With the Internet growing at a very rapid pace, there is today, more than ever, an abundance of opportunities to make money. The lure of such plentiful opportunity is drawing hundreds of thousands to quit their regular jobs and start their own online businesses. By establishing their own venture, they hope to make money on the worldwide web.

You should consider starting your own venture as well, but perhaps you should be more circumspect about it than other people. Too many people begin an online business and later abandon it, usually because it has become tedious and is not making any money. To avoid this, you will want to engage in some careful planning. Planning may seem like a lot of work in the beginning, but it has the potential to save you years of hard, unproductive work.

So you have a new and bright web site that you will be putting in circulation very soon, you will need advertising for this site to make a big splash on the market. How does one go about writing a big press release for an impending site introduction? You are not alone if you are unsure on this, but there are a few pointers to get you started, and are successful at it at the same time.

Keeping in mind that you are going to need the public’s attention, on this media release it is important to remember the fact that the news sells. What you need is very persuasive communication to get your point across. If an editor finds material that makes false promise of nonsense claims that are just not reasonably accepted, they will trash the media release. Some of the most common are one of a kind, changing the face of the planet, or everyone wins. The entire premise is to act and think like a reporter to get the word out in that media format. If the release is not in a journalistic format, it will not be taken seriously.

A good measure would be to make the title around ten words, keep it short to grab attention. Brief summary or the information should be in the headline, and should be dynamic and bold. You are trying to reach mass public; it should be as broad as a roadside sign or billboard. The best way to get a good review is to have the editor notice your release above all others, this can be done in just a few words. Just like all good journalists know the most potent and important part of the release is always the opening paragraph. This can be referred to as the summary lead. It is always the most important facet of any release that you incorporate the common 5 w’s of journalism, not excluding the single and ever important h. who, what, when, where, and the single how are the mainstay in quality information that everyone truly looks for when reading a release. It is imperative on this note to include them.

This is the beef of the information with the introduction and the closing statements surrounding this bulk. It is the introduction that leads the readers down the path of craving more on the subject it must be powerful. This opening paragraph is what is known as the hook. This hook not only has to grab the audience’s attention but the press and the editor as well. Not always an easy task. The hook in every sense of the word is strictly fact and not a method of persuasion to the masses.

The cost will be higher initially than if you started from scratch but you will have immediate income. Your job at this point will be to know the difference between a real opportunity and a scam. Stay away from those endeavors that promise to make you rich now or promise you large money making capacity with out having to work. Any real business is going to require work on your part to establish and see a good profit. You will want to conduct an investigation on the company you are looking at. You will want to be sure this is a legitimate deal and they have others who have succeeded. You can get information on what to look for by typing “investigating a business opportunity” into your search engine and see what comes up.

You will also want to directly call the company. Do not rely on their ads ad a promise that you will make money. Find out from the source of exactly what you will need in materials and services that you will receive to keep your business running. Get a list of all the buyers in your state and neighboring states and phone them. You want to ask them if they were satisfied with what they got, have they made any money, and did the seller live up to their promises. Call many, many people not just a couple. Many companies have paid people to endorse their products even though they are not good. So you want to hear from as many individual as you can to see if this is a good deal. You will also want to look to the Federal Trade Commission and the Better Business Bureau. This will let you know if there are any complaints of impending complaints on the company. There is nothing wrong with digging up some dirt. It is your money and you don’t just want to toss it in the trash.

There are some special qualities that one must have to work from home to have a successful home-based business. You must be able to master self-control. There is no boss there to look over your shoulder and distractions everywhere. You need to have some self-discipline about those activities and actions you have to learn no to do. You don’t want to be eating all day and night because the refrigerator is right there. Spending all afternoon watching television wouldn’t be good if you expected to have the evening off. When that lump his in the after noon and the bed looks mighty inviting, try to resist he nap temptation. It isn’t as easy as one thinks to stay focused and productive.

Working from home means you still have to work when you don’t want to. The boring, frustrating, and scary work has to be done too. This skill is a must and essential for establishing and developing full self-control. You have to learn to stop behaviors that interfere with productive work. There is going to come the time when you will have to choose work instead of fun, boring tasks over exciting ones, and/or the frightening business calls verses the easy ones. There will be plenty of times that the bed will look more and more inviting. This is not because you are tired it is because you don’t want to do something.

When thinking work at home many people think of a peaceful place that is free from all the interruptions of corporate jobs. Any one who has ever worked at home will tell just how distracting it really is. Some days many people find it almost impossible to get anything done. The phone always is ringing, neighbors drop by, laundry needs to be done, the dog has to go out, the kids are screaming, there is always something to drag your attention away from the work you have to do. If you want to be successful as a work at home person you must master the art of working in small increments. You will also have to put on blinders and plant yourself in your chair and work.

You have to be one of those people who like isolation to be able to work at home. If you are one of those people who get energy by being alone then you can achieve productive work by being at home. You will also probably like the respite from constant people around you. If you are one of those people who loves the daily socialization work brings you find loneliness is not your cup of tea. To be productive and not feel so lonely get some online friends to chat with and leave the house frequently to stay focused. Only you can decide if working at home is lonely or peaceful to you.

The challenge of working at home takes courage and self-confidence. You have to have the courage to face all the rejection, unsteady income, no more planned routines, and no more water cooler babble. There really is nothing to worry about and most people will be a bit jealous that you are able to do this rather than thinking they want to come over to your home and harass you. Look at what your motivation is in wanting to withhold your address. Is it to discourage unwanted visitors at your doorstep? If this is the case, be selective as to where you place your home address. Use a post office box for advertising and materials that you use for marketing. Use your home address with the post office box on other items. Decide what you are trying to accomplish with advertising your address. If you receive shipments at home then you need to have a physical address listed.

The purpose of using stationery is to communicate that you have a solid business and are here for the long term. This is reflected in the type of paper you use to the color you choose for your stationery. Always invest in this aspect of your business. Your stationery reflects you remember that as you are deciding on low-quality paper or a higher quality paper. Your investment in how you look to others will come back to you. Make sure you have matching envelopes. You do not want this great looking stationery in envelopes that you bought at your corner market. Your typeface should not be too small or too large. If your typeface is too small, it signals that you are not quite sure about yourself and your business. If your typeface is too large, it may come off being to overpowering and people will turn away.

Think of your stationery the same way you would if you were preparing for a job interview. When you are preparing to interview you pick out a color that reflects power and courage but not overstated. You make sure your appearance shows that you are confident and capable of performing the job description. This same principle applies to the stationery you use for your business. The first step, of course, is to decide just what type of business you’d like to operate. Considering opening a full-service kennel might be the type of home business plan you need to look into. Maybe you are a stay-at-home mom who absolutely adores children. Creating a home daycare of preschool might be an option. Is mathematics your game? Accountants are needed for all types of financial institutions, including businesses, banks and financing companies. What’s most important is coming up with a business site name that describes the business well enough so people have some idea what it’s all about. The ideal would be that people interested in the type of services the particular home business opportunity offers and type the keywords online and the site pops up.

A business that offers online writing services would do well to have the name www.onlinewriting.com or perhaps www.writingfortheweb.com. Of course, the names could already be taken. While there are other choices like .net , .org, .biz and so forth this is generally not a good idea for building an online home business following. The reason is that if, for example, someone were to decide on using www.onlinewriting.net because onlinewriting.com was already taken most people who take a shot in the dark at guessing the site address will find the competition before they find the new home business opportunity online.

When taking the opportunity to market the home business online the entrepreneur should follow a few basic marketing rules. The first is to keep the URL short. A URL can be as long as 63 characters, but no one should have a business domain name that is anywhere near that long. The shorter the better when it comes to a business Web address. If an entrepreneur wanted to buy an established Christian home based business there are several resources on the Internet dedicated to that. One Christian home based business marketplace that we studied included not only the listings of Christian businesses for sale, and Christian franchise opportunities but several other features as well helpful to would be Web entrepreneurs.

The categories of information and pages on this Christian home based business site included the mall itself (where the businesses for sale were displayed), Christian blogs, a category called Bible, one entitled E-cards and another called Articles.

Under the Christian home based business mall heading we found the ten top choices in home based businesses. What was questionable, though, about these so-called opportunities was that each wanted the consumer to fill out a feedback form but not one of them indicated the type of business or the contact information. So, while this site offered some good articles and information it may likely be one of the Internet marketing ploys disguising themselves as Christian home based business resources simply because the term Christian suggests honor and trustworthiness to many. This is something an entrepreneur looking for a home based business opportunity must be wary of.

The blogs section of this Christian home based business mall is set up with the mission of answering important Christian topic questions on marriage, evangelism, theology, prophecy, salvation, hell and yes, Christian home based business. Over 4000 questions are presented her.

The Bible section is a category of quizzes one can take to test and learn about what the scriptures say about dozens of topics. The user can choose to test their bible expertise on finances, creationism, poverty, abortion, stem cell, world religions and many other subjects.

The free e-cards might be just the thing to create top of the mind awareness for a Christian home based business. For little time and no expensive whatsoever the owner of the Christian home based business can send a birthday card, a happy holidays message, a sympathy card, a congratulatory message and many others to clients, coworkers, vendors, business associates and friends and family.

The articles portion of this site offers tips to the owners and managers of Christian home based businesses on topics as diverse as home equity loans, affiliate programs, getting an online degree, buying business insurance, and taking care of her or his health.

So, while the home based business opportunity list of this allegedly Christian site is somewhat questionable it’s still a helpful resource.

The following stories might give entrepreneur hopefuls some ideas about creating their own home based business opportunity. Here are the tales of two who founded and succeeded at their own home based business opportunity.

The first is the business opportunity story of a man that launched his home based computer consulting firm. Never formally trained in computer science, he nevertheless started training on his own part time while working for a major oil refinery full time. After five years of hands on training he was able to convert a loft in his home into a graphics production firm. He left his job and lived off his savings while growing the firm. The computer equipment he had accumulated in the five year training period stood him in good stead for quite some time while he grew his home based business opportunity. His only initial expense was several hundred dollars worth of business cards and business stationery.

Just a few years later his home based business opportunity had grown to a $100,000 a year profit. One year, after a relocation and resulting slow down he started networking with other computer consultants who had their own similar but not identical home based business opportunity, to offer a full complement of computer services to their mutual clients. He felt it was better to have just half of the revenue pie than no pie at all.

Another entrepreneur succeeded at her home based business opportunity, but she was lucky. The mistakes she made early on might have caused her business to fail. She cautions others not to repeat her early behavior. The first thing she did wrong when starting her home based business opportunity was to open its doors with too little money. She had $5000 total and thinks in retrospect that she should have first saved enough to survive the first year before beginning her home based business.

She said she also announced her business opening before she had finished her marketing research, which was quite a blooper since part of her business consulting services included marketing research assistance. Her business name was wrong, she said. Instead of choosing a memorable name that conjured up a picture of the type of business she offered she simply used her middle name as the company name.

Fortunately she was good at what she offered, and her home based business opportunity thrived. She is now a full time entrepreneur with 14 big name clients who provide her a nice six figure income.

A home based business should offer variety, with regular breaks and varied activities throughout each day. As much as possible heavy objects should be slid or rolled rather than lifted.

The height and tilt of the chair should offer comfort and the user should be able to have her or his back resting against the back of the chair with ease. A swivel chair is important to keep from twisting the head or body. Fight should be flat on the floor, and thighs should be parallel to the floor. A short person might need a footrest.

If much of the activities of the home based business center around computer use the hands and the wrists take the worst beating in most cases. To prevent this, the work surface should be lowered so that the user’s hands are below his or her elbows. A keyboard tray helps to keep the user’s wrist flat.

A very important tip for your wrist is to break the habit of resting your hand on your mouse when not typing. These home based ergonomic business tips will help an entrepreneur work more comfortably for extended periods.

One would seldom think of looking in the Los Angeles Times for ways that kids can make money. Since the mid 1990s the Times has tended to focus on ways that children can become better readers. It even has a special “Reading by 9” page. In May of 2006, however, the Times did provide details about one of the newest ideas for kids to make money.

That article was about local boys who made a habit of chasing exotic cars. They used their cell phones to catch video of those exotic cars. When those boys got their first videos, then they discovered one of the newest ideas for kids to make money. They found that they could make money be selling their videos to various websites, sites where the viewers wanted to look at exotic cars.
More recently, after many months of selling those videos, these same boys have begun pursuing another of the ideas for kids to make money. They have started to design their own website. At this point it looks as though that new website will be called car-parazzi.com. The boys are going to post all of their video on that website. Then they can get some money from the ads they place on that website.
Of course these boys realize that ads on a website represent just one of many ideas for kids to make money online. They are well aware of the fact that great video might encourage other website marketers to put a link on the kids’ website. The kids would of course get money for such a link.

So these young boys could, continue to make money simply by filming all of the local Porches, Lamborghinis and Ferraris. Right now these boys know exactly where to go to find exotic cars. They know that they do not have to go far. There are many exotic cars on the streets of West Las Angeles.

These boys would probably have little trouble marketing their new website. These boys became famous overnight. CNN used one of their videos when reporting about the mystery surrounding a wrecked Ferrari. The boys had gotten pictures of the car and owner before the car accident.

CNN provided the boys with an even greater ability to make money online. Selling video to CNN is not one of the standard ideas for kids to make money. Yet now that this one group of boys has used CNN as a buyer, maybe other kids will try to do the same thing. Maybe another group of kids could create a website with a special type of video. They would, however, encounter a challenge. They would find it hard to create a name as clever as car-parazzi.com.

5. Any deal that you are being manipulated or schmoozed into. If some one is trying to bully you, charm you to death, or anything else. Make sure to tell them you know what they are doing and walk away.

6. Any deal set up to look like a pyramid scheme. These scams are made to look like legitimate MLM and network marketing business but are illegal. The earlier people in the plan get paid with money taken from the new people. These companies have you spend thousands of dollars up front and claim you will be raking in the money in weeks.

The most important thing to remember is that if it is too good to be true than that is what it is, untrue. There is not a person on the planet that does not want to get rich quick. Some people do get rich quick, but not many. People who have more money than they know what to do with earned it over time with hard work. Or someone who worked for it willed it to them.

2. Learn how you work best. You really need to find the best place in your home that will make you the most productive. Make sure you are comfortable but not distracted by outside influences.

3. Be mentally ready to take on specific tasks. Make sure to plan your workday to fit your energy level. Be realistic on what you can accomplish.
